Reflection
In the parable of the sower, what are we?
I suggest that we are the land, or at least the farmer who tends the land and that the seed is the word of God. Our task is to remain fertile, to stay away from things which stop us from being fruitful.
Not to become hard, like the path. Not to be shallow and not give a foothold to the word. Not to spend our time with weeds which would choke things of God. It doesn’t take too great an imagination to see what such things are in our world today.
How can I become more fruitful?
What do I need to avoid, or at least to do less of?

Scripture
Matthew 13:1-9 WEB
On that day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the seaside.
Great multitudes gathered to him, so that he entered into a boat and sat;
and all the multitude stood on the beach.
He spoke to them many things in parables, saying,
“Behold, a farmer went out to sow.
As he sowed, some seeds fell by the roadside, and the birds came and devoured them.
Others fell on rocky ground, where they didn’t have much soil, and immediately they sprang up, because they had no depth of earth.
When the sun had risen, they were scorched. Because they had no root, they withered away.
Others fell among thorns. The thorns grew up and choked them.
Others fell on good soil and yielded fruit:
some one hundred times as much, some sixty, and some thirty.
He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”
Conversation: Talk to Jesus in your own words as a friend
Final Prayer: End with a formal prayer such as the Lord’s Prayer/Our Father.
