Today’s Scripture

Matthew 11: 11-15 (HCSB)

“I assure you: Among those born of women no one greater than John the Baptist has appeared, but the least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been suffering violence, and the violent have been seizing it by force. For all the prophets and the Law prophesied until John; if you’re willing to accept it, he is the Elijah who is to come. Anyone who has ears should listen!”

Reflection

Jesus is leaving people in no doubt as to who he is – the one John the Baptist preached about, the one who would show that the Kingdom of God was not a future dream but a present reality. In other words, God amongst us.

Advent is a time to look at Jesus, the Word made flesh, God incarnate, in our world and in our lives.

Although he never ceases to provoke interest and fascination, the question of who Jesus was and is still remains contested. What would you say, if asked?

Take some time to reflect on who Jesus has been in your life, and who he is now. If you are not sure, maybe you could ask him.
