Day 27

Reflection

Another story, like the feeding of the 5,000, that doesn’t resonate with our experience in life.
We can’t imagine people walking on water. Its an experience of dreams. Or as the disciples imagined, something that only a ghost could do.

But there are times when we can, with God’s help, do something that we never thought we had the ability to do.

Could you be called to surprise yourself by doing something remarkable, with God’s help?

Today’s Prayer

Preparation: Begin by stilling; then dedicating the time of prayer to God and asking God that all you think, feel and imagine are for the glory of God.

Gift:  Ask for what you desire.  Suggestion: To know Jesus more clearly, love him more dearly, and follow him more nearly.

Setting: A Scripture reading to ponder – Lectio Divina.

Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go ahead of him to the other side,
while he sent the multitudes away.
After he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into the mountain by himself to pray.
When evening had come, he was there alone.
But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, distressed by the waves, for the wind was contrary.
In the fourth watch of the night, Jesus came to them, walking on the sea.
When the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying,
“It’s a ghost!” and they cried out for fear.
But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Cheer up! It is I!  Don’t be afraid.”
Peter answered him and said, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the waters.”
He said, “Come!”
Peter stepped down from the boat and walked on the waters to come to Jesus.
But when he saw that the wind was strong, he was afraid, and beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”
Immediately Jesus stretched out his hand, took hold of him, and said to him,
“You of little faith, why did you doubt?”
When they got up into the boat, the wind ceased.
Those who were in the boat came and worshiped him, saying,
“You are truly the Son of God!”

Conversation: Talk to Jesus in your own words as a friend

Final Prayer: End with a formal prayer such as the Lord’s Prayer/Our Father.
