Day 30

Today’s Picture: Jesus meets the Rich Young Man by René de los Reyes

The Emotional Jesus: Love

Jesus could see the good in a young man.
He was an attractive person who would be an asset to the group of Jesus’ disciples.
Jesus’ heart reaches out to such a person.
“Come follow me”,
Jesus looks on him with love and invites him to follow.
But riches are a difficult thing to master.
Look around your life, who are the people you find it easy to love?

Today’s Prayer

Preparation: Begin by stilling, then dedicating the time of prayer to God and asking God that all you think, feel and imagine are for the glory of God.

Gift:  Ask for what you desire.  Suggestion: That I develop a more loving heart.

Setting:  You might want to imagine yourself either a disciple or the rich young man.
Get in touch with how you feel.

Mark 10:17-22 HCSB

As He was setting out on a journey, a man ran up, knelt down before Him, and asked Him, “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”
“Why do you call Me good?”
Jesus asked him. “No one is good but One—God.

You know the commandments:
Do not murder;
do not commit adultery;
do not steal;
do not bear false witness;
do not defraud;
honour your father and mother.”

He said to Him, “Teacher, I have kept all these from my youth.”
Then, looking at him, Jesus loved him and said to him,
“You lack one thing: Go, sell all you have and give to the poor,

and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow Me.”
But he was stunned at this demand, and he went away grieving,
because he had many possessions.

Conversation: You may want to talk to Jesus about loving others.
How he loved, how you love.

Final Prayer: End with a formal prayer such as the Lord’s Prayer/Our Father.
