Day 51

Today’s Picture: Saints Peter and John Healing the Lame Man by Nicolas Poussin

The Resurrected Jesus: Others act in his name

It’s hard not to feel the joy of the man who was lame from birth as he goes into the Temple,
probably for the first time in his life, leaping and praising God.
The Holy Spirit, which is offered to all followers of Christ,
allows Peter and John to do great works in the name of Jesus.

This same Spirit is open to us today.
Lets not be too fearful to imagine the Spirit working in us.

Today’s Prayer

Preparation: Begin by stilling, then dedicating the time of prayer to God and asking God that all you think, feel and imagine are for the glory of God.

GiftAsk for what you desire. Suggestion: That I may be to be filled with the Spirit.

Setting:  I imagine myself outside the Temple and notice this great healing.

Acts 3:1-10 HCSB

Now Peter and John were going up together to the temple complex
at the hour of prayer at three in the afternoon.

And a man who was lame from birth was carried there
and placed every day at the temple gate called Beautiful,
so he could beg from those entering the temple complex.

When he saw Peter and John about to enter the temple complex,
he asked for help.

Peter, along with John, looked at him intently and said, “Look at us.”
So he turned to them, expecting to get something from them.
But Peter said, “I don’t have silver or gold, but what I have, I give you:
In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, get up and walk!”

Then, taking him by the right hand he raised him up,
and at once his feet and ankles became strong.
So he jumped up, stood, and started to walk,
and he entered the temple complex with them—walking, leaping, and praising God.
All the people saw him walking and praising God,
and they recognized that he was the one who used to sit and beg at the Beautiful Gate of the temple complex.
So they were filled with awe and astonishment at what had happened to him.

Conversation: Talk to Jesus or Peter and John.  What might you want to say?
How do you imagine they might reply to you?

Final Prayer: End with a formal prayer such as the Lord’s Prayer/Our Father.
