Day 52

Today’s Picture: The Pilgrim by John Bateson-Hill

The Resurrected Jesus: Carrying his Message

If early in Jesus’ ministry he saw himself as bringing the Good News
to the lost sheep of Israel he now sees the mission going to the ends of the earth.
The mission of Jesus’ followers is universal.
Universal liberation and knowledge of a loving God
who has plans for us of joy and life.
Even life everlasting.

But then, some of those who had followed him and seen the remarkable events of his life, death and resurrection doubted.
So doubt, for them, and for us, is understandable.

Lord, I believe, help thou my unbelief!

Today’s Prayer

Preparation: Begin by stilling, then dedicating the time of prayer to God and asking God that all you think, feel and imagine are for the glory of God.

Gift: Ask for what you desire.
Suggestion: Ask for the power and enthusiasm to want to take the message of Christ to our world today.

Setting:  You might like to imagine yourself by the Sea of Galilee listening to Jesus,
his command and his promise.

Mark 15:42-47 HCSB

The eleven disciples travelled to Galilee,
to the mountain where Jesus had directed them.

When they saw Him, they worshiped, but some doubted.
Then Jesus came near and said to them,
“All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.

Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations,
baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you.
And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Conversation: Talk to Jesus in your own words.  What is he asking you to do?

Final Prayer: End with a formal prayer such as the Lord’s Prayer/Our Father.
